A shift with Emera
A shift, from start to finish.
No two sites are the same, but most shifts follow these four steps.
1. Sign in and get the brief
You clock in on our app when you arrive. Your supervisor runs through the site's checklist and anything that has changed since the last clean.
2. Set up the gear
You set out the equipment and chemicals for the job, and put on the PPE the site needs. On food sites, you follow the lockout procedure before you clean a machine.
3. Clean to the checklist
You work through the site's checklist on our app, area by area. The same crew goes back to the same sites, so you get to know each one.
4. Photos and handover
You take before and after photos and tick off each job. Your supervisor checks the work, and the report goes to the client when the job is done.

Most Emera shifts are when clients' sites are closed or quiet, such as at night, early in the morning, on weekends, between production shifts and in the school holidays.
When you send us your details, tell us when you can work.
Will I need a police check to work with Emera?
Yes. Everyone Emera sends to a client's site holds a current police check, including subcontracted cleaners, so you'll need one before your first shift.
On school and childcare sites, you'll also need a current Working with Children Check.
Do you work with cleaning subcontractors?
Yes. Subcontracted cleaners work on Emera's client sites to the same checklists on our app as our own crews.

What training do you give new cleaners?
Every new Emera cleaner is inducted on the site before their first clean, and learns its checklist, PPE and safety rules. Your supervisor shows you how the site runs.
On food sites, training covers HACCP-based cleaning, safe chemical use and lockout procedures. You also learn our app, where you clock in, tick off the checklist and take before and after photos.
